How dirty are you?

My experience with inspiration:

Inspiration is already there. You already are an inspired person. The problem is, that inspiration is hidden somewhere beneath a lot of other things and that’s why you can’t see it and it can’t come out. Or at least not as much as it could.

Imagine a floor that has been used for a long time but never cleaned. It was new and shiny and brilliant once, but over the years and decades it has been covered by dirt, maybe it hasĀ  even been covered with something else: a carpet, a layer of parquet flooring, …

The floor in itself is still brilliant, it’s just that nobody can see it because of everything that lays on top.

It’s the same with inspiration.

Let’s say you’re in a day job that you don’t like. Your boss is giving you a hard time, in the evening you are exhausted, you need to take care of all the other things going on in your life: family, household, keeping yourself fit and healthy, maybe you need to take care of your parents, whatever …

Under all those layers of occupation and often anxiety that comes with it, you are a brilliant, inspired person. It’s just that you can’t see it. Because the inspiration is hidden. Buried.

So?

You uncover it.

Here’s how:

  1. Become aware that your inspiration is there. Even if you don’t see it (yet).
  2. Set some time aside in your day (it can be as little as 10-15 min) to block out everything else that is going on in your life.
  3. Start cleaning the “dirt layers” of your life. You’ll see the brilliance that lies beneath by coming back to your “block out time” regularly.

A great tool for blocking out everything else and start/continuing the cleaning process:
