Routines That Kill You
As we grow older we develop more and more patterns. Habits. Most of them we aren’t even aware of.
And the more time we spend with these patters, the harder it gets to change them.
But change is an important factor for development.
Be on the lookout for your patters. Things you do regularly without even realizing that you are doing them. But how do you break fee?
The first step is to become aware of your patterns. Only if you are aware of them you can take control and change them.
Ask yourself, “what if I did this differently?”, or, “I’ve been doing this for the last ten years, why don’t I try something new today, just to see how it goes.”
It can be little things. The same coffee shop you go to every time. The same way you take every day. The same people you hang out with. The same conversations you have.
Try new things. Give your brain a new stimulus and see how it goes.
Doing the same things over and over and over kills your creativity because you don’t open yourself up to new experiences and insights as much as you could.
Fight your routines. Your mind is lazy. Don’t let it keep you from trying new things.
How to learn to spot patterns?
