There Are No Voices

Do you catch yourself sometimes having imaginary arguments with people about something that might happen in the future?

I do.

But since I’ve become aware of them I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Because they’re not real. This is a psychological effect that makes us think somehow if we play it through in our mind, when the situation comes we will be prepared better.

But the only thing that happen is you take away a moment that you could be in peace and let your mind run in circles, worrying.

You can’t be creative when your mind keeps running in circles.

And it’s not real preparation either. It just appears that way.

The situation isn’t even there yet and might never happen. It’s just a mind trick, nothing else.

If you need to prepare for a situation that will indeed happen, take time and plan ahead, think it through and prepare the best way you can for all the possibilities that you want.

But then you need to let it go and just do the best in the moment once the situation is there.

Don’t let the voices in your head have all the attention. They just rob you of your energy that you could use well for other things.

How to calm down the voices?
